MITSUBISHI EVO IX BUILD FEB 08

New Evo 9 donor car arrives from manufacturer

First Job is strip to bare shell

Work begins on shell prep.-all sealer needs removed from seams

once inside of shell is stripped of sealer the shell is placed on a spit to begin removal of sealer from underside

Bodyshell fabrication & Roll cage completed

Following the fabrication work the Bodyshell is cleaned and now ready to go into paintshop

Shell now painted underside/engine bay/interior.although important to have good paintwork for presentation, less paint the better-to much paint can add 10kg in weight

While bodyshell assembly takes place, the engine is stripped, checked and blueprinted to GpN specification,Transmission will be built using ralliart diffs and Drenth dog gearkit

With the shell now ready for assembly,we begin at the back and work forward, fuel tank/fuel & brake lines installed first

Ralliart type hyd hand brake system now installed,a must on these cars to work in conjunction with the diff controllers to assist handbrake turns

One of the worst jobs in the build, installing the wiring loom, and auxill. looms, takes a great deal of time and care to make sure everything is 100% correct on the electrics, can now fit the dash,

Rear brakes & proflex dampers now assembled on car

Front Brembo brakes & proflex dampers now installed

Dash & instumentation completed

Engine installed in chassis, car now taking shape, but still lots of fine detail yet before the car is ready to rally

Car now completed and ready for first test session in tarmac trim

Driver David Bogie with Allister McRae sitting along side him waits patiently while his Pro-Tec Mechanics check the car during a successful test for the new car at the Sweet Lamb complex in Wales
